ARE THEY NOBLE?

It’s seven o’clock in the morning and I’m on the way to school. It takes an hour to get to there. It was cloudy that day; rush hour at that. I look in front, through the mirror I saw the driver. He’s sweating. The bus stopped. A man on blue uniform rode. He is a police man. He is wearing shades, medium built, and quite aggressive. He seated beside me. Fifteen minutes before we arrive at Dagupan, the conductor started to collect the passengers’ fare. I am paying twenty five pesos inclusive of the student discount. I gave my fare. I am expecting that the police man, “The Sir”, seating beside me, in uniform, will also pay his fare. He let the conductor see his badge, at that very moment, with no questions asked, “The Sir” was exempted in paying his fare. I am clueless for a second. I sighed. How in this world be that man in blue uniform, the protector of the welfare of people, preserver of human rights, be exempted in paying his fare? Is he that noble?

Several questions passed my mind that time. How come he is exempted? Is it written in Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines that a man in blue uniform, with a badge be exempted in paying in public vehicles?

There profession is indeed a noble one but with some of their colleagues’ acts, will we consider them as noble?

They must be just.
